Measuring Leadership Development Effectiveness
Earlier this week I listened to an eCornell webinar with Ed Cohen of the Nelson Cohen Global Consulting Group. He was asked about measuring the effectiveness of leadership development initiatives. He said it goes beyond a cash optimization question. What is the resulting impact on customers? On the employee? Measurement must look beyond the completion of a training event and look at the application of that learning on the job for that leader. They have learned. They are applying that learning. They are reflecting on that learning and application…and adjusting the application further. That is the point of relevant measurement on the effectiveness of any leadership development initiative.
