Connecting the Dots of Leadership Development
It all starts with capacity. Where is an individual in the arena of leadership potential? What is their ultimate leadership capacity that makes it worth the investment of getting them prepared for the next level of leadership assignments? The Nine Box assessment is a helpful 360 approach to sort out the capacity question. Once a company is ready to make the investment then the development process follows:
1. Identify the leadership competencies that are embedded in the strategic business priorities.
2. Assess the individual in those specific competency areas.
3. Create a holistic development plan to address any gaps. This must be built around active learning assignments on the job.
4. Coaching to facilitate accountability, structured reflection, and revised developmental planning.
