The Best Book I’ve Read
One of the insigntful books I read while in graduate school is Virginia Satir’s book: The New Peoplemaking. Satir was a pioneer in family therapy. If you want to learn something about how people grow and develop, then this is worth your reading.
It is now clear to me that the family is a microcosm of the world. To understand the world, we can study the family: issues such as power, autonomy, trust, and communication skills are vital parts underlying how we live in the world. To change the world is to change the family. (page 2).
Virginia Satir provides foundational insight that is essential when building the capacity of today’s leaders. It will push you outside the context of leadership development literature, but it will enrich everything you end up reading there as well.
Speaking of leaders!
